Lucy sucking on her soother. She is recovering well from her surgery. She is now back on full feeds at 44mL every three hours. Lucy's oxygen continues to be turned down and she is now at a lower flow rate than before her eye surgery. She still wears her splint for most of the day but gets an hour or so with it off everyday. She has become very good at wiggling her fingers out of where they are supposed to be. She is laying on her special "butterfly" pillow. Both girls use this pillow when they are lying on their backs. It helps to hold their shoulders and arms in the position they would have been if they were still in the womb. It also helps with keeping their heads round instead of flat against the bed. Lucy now seems to really enjoy being held.

Ella hanging out on the edge of her crib. Her feeds are very slowly increasing. We had hoped that she might be on full feeds by now but she is at 18mLs every three hours. But she is digesting better every day and things will likely move more quickly. The longer she is not on full feeds the more IVs she needs. They last a couple of days and then she needs a new one. Lucy has pretty much had her whole head shaved for IVs and Ella will soon look like her sister. One nurse told us that while they are bad hairdressers they are excellent nurses! We agree with both points!
