Ella loves to sleep like this. This picture was taken when was she back in the isolette after it was discovered she was sick. She has tested positive for an infection and is now on the right antibiotics. She may also have something wrong with her bowels. The doctors are holding her feeds for a week to ten days. Ella is not impressed with this at all - for the first couple of days she was quite agitated. This is quite different from our regular calm and contented baby. Anyone of us would be upset if we weren't allowed to eat, and Ella is no different. Ella is now back in a crib and she is happier about that.
This is Lucy a few days ago with her purple hat from Aunt Rosemary. She is recovering well from her surgery. Her arm has a long incision but it is healing well. Her wrist and hand are still not functioning properly and the physiotherapist has gotten her a little splint and given the nurses some exercises to do with her arm every couple of hours. Everyone seems confident that her wrist will get better but it will take time. As of this morning, Lucy is back on full feeds - 39mL. She is interested in the world around her, staying awake for an hour or more at a time. She is also back in a crib. Yesterday Lucy was put on low flow oxygen and is tolerating it very well.It has been a long and difficult week, with unexpected disappointments. Lucy's arm problem was very unusual and Ella getting sick was a real surprise. Each setback lengthens our stay and increases our stress. Lucy is now on the mend and we need to cheer Ella along so that she gets better again as well.

What a sweet picture of Ella! I think that she looks a lot like Donovan in that pose - you can definitely tell they are cousins. Glad to hear positive news about Ella and Lucy and hope they both continue to recover from their setbacks over the past week. Thinking of all of you,
Mary Ellen, Jan and Donovan
What adorable pictures...isn't it amazing the comfortable positions wee babes seem to find. My guys tend to lie like they've been told to put their hands up by an officer of the law!!!
Glad to hear that things are back on the mend and both girls are back where we saw them last. It was so wonderful to finally meet them and we look forward to more updates and their eventual arrival here in Monkton.
Praying for you all,
