We are cautiously hopeful that Lucy is getting better. She has been on the right medication since Sunday and things have been improving. She is now off the Jet and just on the conventional ventilator. She started taking feeds and has now progressed to six mLs every two hours. The feeds have been going up about 2mL a day. She is digesting everything they are giving her, which will certainly help her get better. When the doctors were doing an ultrasound of her belly, they discovered she has a small blood clot by her long line IV. It is not large or obstructing the flow of blood, but to be safe, she is on blood thinning medication to dissolve the clot. We try to take things one day at a time, and we have now had a few good days strung together with Lucy, for that we are very thankful.
This is Ella in her father's arms last night, just about asleep after her bath. She was weighed last night and is now up to 3pounds 10ounces. She is growing in leaps and bounds! Her feeds have been changed to every three hours instead of every two. She is now getting 32mL every three hours. She tolerated the change just fine. Ella often wakes up before it is feeding time, her body knows when it wants to be full. She is still on her high flow oxygen; it has now been four days and she is going strong.

We are amazed at how much the girls change everyday. They are now at 33 weeks gestation, getting closer to their due date.

To everyone in Monkton - we were thinking about the great turkey dinner everyone was eating last night. We hope everything went well and we were sorry to miss one of the best meals of the year!

Thank you to the women of the presbytery for a wonderful morning yesterday. It was great to see everyone and to have a break from the hospital. Your kindness is appreciated.
