Theresa does a great job posting on the blog, but I wanted to share a story from last night that occurred while Theresa was Kangarooing with Ella:
Before my story, let me say the girl's continue to consistently show their personalities: it appears Ella is more steady, consistent, but very determined taking after Theresa; Lucy reacts to the moment, thinking of the consequences later, living the moment, adapting and changing her plans, like her Father.
The past few weeks Lucy has been quite sick, really having some bad luck with infections, etc, spending most of her time sleeping, not having the energy to open her eyes or move her arms and legs, which we know she loves doing. Since she has been sick with the staph. infection in her blood and lungs, the extra IV line, breathing tube and numerous blood tests have just increased her risk of other infection and stressed her out further. After a comprehensive battery of tests Sunday, we know she is fighting infections in her throat and lungs from the breathing tube, and a yeast infection that has spread from her bladder into her blood. We need her to start breathing better and digesting food, as the longer she does neither she increases her chance of longer term health problems.
However, I am optimistic she has decided it's time to get better, because she told me so last night. After a few hours beside her yesterday, watching Lucy laying on her stomach, she turned her head from side to side for the first time, doing so with 2 tubes down her nose, taped onto her face, joined to other heavier tubing. Then to show she had figured it out, she did it again, becoming almost sideways in her isolette, eyes wide open & mouth seemingly in a grin(okay-slight exaggeration). The nurse came and straightened her out, and to prove I wasn't making up a story, Lucy picked up her head, and heaved it from one side to the other, bringing the tubes across with her. Then the nurse strapped her down, surprised she had the energy to do that, but more surprised she could do it without pulling the tubes out. It was Lucy's way of letting us know that she's not done fighting yet!

Something tells us that Lucy is always going to be your child who keeps you busy while Ella just lays back and watches it all unfold, silently laughing inside at her sister's antics.
It was wonderful to hear from you Jonathon and wonderful to read updates. Hopefully you will soon be holding Lucy in your arms (and loving every minute of spending time with Daddy's little girls!!!)
