We have been home for one week now and all of us are doing well. We are taking some time to learn how to live together. Part way through the week I was certain Ella looked up and thought "Isn't your shift over yet?" The girls are both feeding about every four hours. Ella is taking about 110ml of her special formula and Lucy is taking about 85ml of milk with fortifiers. Lucy is still learning how to nurse and we will be increasing this in the weeks ahead as she gets bigger and stronger. We have had a couple of home visits from the oxygen provider nurse and the VON nurse as well as a visit to the pediatrician. From all accounts everything is going well.
Johnathon having a nap with his girls. It has been great to have the girls together more often now that Lucy is more mobile. They don't really seem to realize the other is there.
This picture is of Ella fast asleep in the afternoon. She has had her days and nights turned around. At the hospital there was always a nurse who was happy to hold an alert baby during the night but at home there is only a tired mom and dad! She has started to wake up more during the day and we are hopeful this trend will continue.
Lucy is really starting to fill out! Her hair is growing back in and her colour is really improving. She needs her blood thinner for only a couple more days and we will all be glad when she does not need two needles a day.
I typed this post with one hand as Lucy is in my arms!
