Update on Lucy
This is a picture of Lucy taken last week and the one below is from yesterday. As you can see, the nurses had to shave part of her head to put an IV in. It is very common for premature babies to have IVs in their heads as it is difficult to find veins in their arms and feet sometimes. I loved that she had lots of dark hair - but hair does grow back!

She is still looking puffy from the surgery but that will go down in the next little while. She is still having quite a bit of difficulty recovering. Her oxygen needs really swing - sometimes she is in the forties and other times in the eighties. As soon as her sedatives wear off she starts moving and then she needs more oxygen. So she will continue to be on morphine and another sedative for the time being. It is hard watching Lucy being still as she loves to move, but she needs this time to recover. The surgery was absolutely necessary for Lucy to improve, but before we see true improvement, we have to go through this difficult time. She does seem more comfortable now that the chest tube is out though.
