Through The Waters

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. Isaiah 43:2a The journey of Ella and Lucy.

Just a quick note tonight before we head out to the hospital. Between the cardiologist, the doctors and nurses in the NICU and the surgeon, they have decided that Lucy needs to have the surgery to close her PDA (duct). When we left this afternoon they still hadn't decided on Ella's PDA but have booked the surgery time in case. We thought that the surgery would have happened today but it will be tomorrow at 8am.

We are constantly reassured that the surgery is quite routine and quick. It is still stressful for us though. We are hopeful that when the surgery is complete the girls' oxygen needs will go down and they will be able to be slowly weaned off of their ventilators. It will take the girls a little while to recover as it would for anyone having surgery, nevermind little two pound babies. We will post an update when we are able - likely tomorrow night.

Pray and send positive thoughts to the NICU tomorrow.

I was just talking to my mom and found out that my niece's class at Linden Christian School have been praying for Lucy and Ella every day. She is going to give Nikita, my niece, an update so they can pray tomorrow for the surgery. One of our best friends, Shauna, teaches grade 4 at Calvin Christian school, and her class has been praying for them too. Your two girls have so many people pulling for them across the country - that's just our little prayer update from Winnipeg.

Blessings and Peace,

Matt
