Both girls are doing well tonight. Lucy's lung is slowly starting to get better but the nurse tonight thought it would take a while to be fully re-inflated. She still is using quite a bit of oxygen. She continues to feed like a trooper though... she is now up to six millilitres every two hours. They will likely take out her IV by the weekend if she continues to take her feeds like she has been. You can see the IV in the picture - I'm sure she will be glad to be rid of it! Right now she is getting supplemental feeding through the IV and it would be a huge step to move towards only milk. The nurses have also taken out the line that monitered Lucy's blood pressure. This means both her feet and one of her arms are free from lines.
Ella is starting to tolerate her feeds better in the last twenty four hours. They started to give her two millilitres every four hours and have now increased it to three millilitres every four hours. Her oxygen levels have been quite good. Her blood pressure line has also been taken out and she has both her arms free. It is great to see her hands all curled up by her face has she sleeps. I was able to change her diaper the other night - it felt great to do something "normal."
