The girls are doing well again today. The nurses seem very pleased with their progress and we trust their experience and expertise.

This is a picture of Lucy. Her nurse today was determined to keep her tucked in and so far so good. This allows her to sleep and conserve her energy and decrease her oxygen needs. She looked very peaceful. Today Lucy started on increased feeds of 2mL milk every two hours and was tolerating it well. She is still on antibiotics for her lung infection.

This is Ella today. A couple of days ago she was put on antibiotics due to bloodwork the doctors thought was 'off.' They were right as it was confirmed today she has a blood infection, however the medicine worked quickly and bloodwork is already improving. Ella's feeding is also being increased to 2mL every two hours, but her first larger feeding did not go as well as hoped. The nurses were going to try again and see if she tolerates the increased amounts, if not, she will go back down to 1mL again. The best news today was that the nurses were able to weigh her today through a special device in her isolette. She has gained four ounces! So she is now 1 pound, 14 ounces. Unfortunately, Lucy's isolette does not have this feature so we will have to wait awhile to she where her weight is at.
Today was a quiet day with no tests which allows them to sleep peacefully without any stressful procedures. We continue to be glad for these calm days - for us and the girls.
