Everything continues to be stable I am glad to report. The cardiologist was in today and Ella's duct opening is getting smaller although it is not closed yet. They gave her the last of the medication today and they will just moniter her to see what happens next. Sometimes a small duct will close on its own but often surgery is necessary. Over the next week the doctors will make a decision on the next move in regards to Ella's duct. She is also now on the ossilator (the ventilator that gently shakes in the oxygen) and seems to be liking it and her oxygen levels are coming down closer to room levels. She is being fed every three hours and it digesting everything she is being given. Today her colouring has really improved and she is looking very cute.

The cardiologist also looked at Lucy and although she had no outward signs of an open duct, she too has an opening. They started her medication today and they will moniter her as she goes. The good news is that she shows no signs of stress from the open duct and so there is no immediate need for surgery. She continues to be on antibiotics for her lung infections and hopefully that will be cleared up in a day or two. Lucy still loves to kick her legs - but she wouldn't kick when I had the camera ready - I'll try again this evening.

It is amazing to see the changes that have already occurred in both girls. They are looking stronger and pinker (less red) and are filling out a little. They spend most of their time sleeping and we are lucky to catch them with their eyes open. We have had wonderful nurses and the nurse who has been with Lucy the most during the day always refers to them as, "the lovely little girls." We couldn't agree more!
